Florida Polytechnic University celebrates opening

The new Florida Polytechnic University is celebrating its inaugural year with several launch events.

The festivities began Friday with a gala at the university’s Innovation, Science and Technology Building designed by noted Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. The $60 million building houses the school’s labs, classrooms and other meeting areas and features curved awnings and a roof that adjusts to the sun’s angle.

“New Student Experience, The Six P’s”

The New Student Experience, an initiative designed to build on Valencia’s institutional priorities to improve student learning and overall progress in college and beyond, has as its foundation six student-centered outcomes called The Six Ps: place, purpose, pathway, plan, preparation and personal connection.

Over the next seven weeks, The Juice will feature links to a series of seven videos by President Sandy Shugart and Valencia faculty and staff. Each video highlights one of The Six Ps, which are intended to successfully solidify student learning and success.

If you counsel a student interested in applying for DACA status, please direct them to the following site:

If approved for DACA, the student will be considered for in-state tuition at Valencia College. Being an approved DACA student does not guarantee in-state tuition at Valencia College. If a student would like to check their DACA status please direct them to the following site:
